Father Terence BERMINGHAM (1932 - 1998)
He died in the Regional Hospital, Limerick on 9th March 1998.
Last Thursday week death made a sudden and very unexpected approach to Fr Terry Bermingham. Despite the valiant medical expertise, the intense family solidarity, the very generous fraternal ministry of his fellow priests and parishioners, death claimed him last Sunday. Sudden death forces us to think of the fragility of human life and to realise that we are not immortal, that time is not on our side.
Terry was a pastoral priest who spent his life ministering to the peoples of different communities abroad and at home. Regular visitation was a notable feature of his pastoral approach. He was a solid, steady worker and he belonged among the people he served so faithfully.
We believe that for Fr. Terry and for us all Christ rose from the dead to open for us a gateway to heaven where God will lock us forever into the endless life of love that He is. It is difficult to understand at this moment but we believe that, because of the victory of Jesus, death for all of us is a new beginning: life is not ended, just changed.
